Episode 1 ‘Nature is my Teacher’

Our story unfolds in the village of Sawinggrai, nestled within the Raja Ampat archipelago – a remote haven accessible solely by boat. Situated in the northwest of Indonesia's West Papua province, Raja Ampat holds a significant position within the Coral Triangle, celebrated as the 'Amazon of the seas' for its extensive and diverse coral reef systems, ranking among the largest and richest in the world.
In the rural landscapes of West Papua, children encounter numerous challenges, particularly in accessing formal education and learning opportunities.

In response, community-based learning centres have emerged in select villages, aiming to overcome these obstacles and provide educational pathways for these children. These centres stand as beacons of hope, illuminating a route towards knowledge and enlightenment for the attending children.
Environmental education assumes paramount importance in the context of Raja Ampat. Given the region's unparalleled marine ecosystem, the knowledge acquired through these educational initiatives holds the potential to ignite a passion for environmental stewardship among the young learners. The growing sense of responsibility and guardianship nurtured within them for their community's well-being is both heartening and commendable.
The natural environment of this locale offers an extraordinary classroom, cultivating an ideal space for children to gather

invaluable lessons from the surrounding nature.

We champion the incredible work of ChildAid Papua in this region, giving children an opportunity for a wonderful future with education.
